He has written and produced over 26 number-one R&B hits throughout his career and has won 12 Grammy Awards. He was ranked number 20 on NME’s 50 of The Greatest Producers Ever list.
Babyface was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1959. He began his career as a songwriter in the early 1980s, writing songs for artists such as The Whispers, Bobby Brown, and Karyn White. In 1989, he released his debut solo album, Tender Lover, which was a critical and commercial success. He has since released six more solo albums, all of which have been certified platinum or multi-platinum.
In addition to his solo career, Babyface has also produced albums for some of the biggest names in music, including Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, Boyz II Men, and Mariah Carey. He has also worked on soundtracks for films such as Waiting to Exhale and Love & Basketball.
