In 1971, the band debuted with the R.E.O. Speedwagon album, which launched the performing careers of its members. Over the next two decades, the band produced a total of nine platinum records. The band’s albums and single releases topped the music charts throughout the 80s and 90s and included the well-known hit singles Keep On Loving You, Can’t Fight This Feeling and Take It On The Run. Almost 50 years after its professional debut, REO Speedwagon is still delighting audiences of all ages with its fresh rock sound and energetic performances. One of the statements that can certainly be made about REO Speedwagon is that the band is not afraid of change. Since its debut in 1971, REO has undergone an overhaul of its personnel, and only the founder remains. The band, named after a flatbed truck that was made by the Ranson Eli Olds company in the early 1900s, manages to do things in multiples and not in a small way. REO’s platinum records total a robust nine and include platinum for single releases. The group’s 1980 release, Hi Fidelity, topped the charts for more than three months in the latter part of the year and well into 1981. Speaking of multiples, Hi Fidelity contained a total of four hit singles, the chart-toppers Take It On The Run and Keep On Loving You.
