Squeeze and Psychedelic Furs

Oct 14 • Sat • 8:00PM • 2023 @Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort | Squeeze came to prominence in the 1970s new wave era in the UK and, except for a series of temporary disbandments and several incarnations of its lineup, continues recording and touring prolifically today. Even during those periods of dissolution, however, Squeeze continued to come together for tours and special concert events. One of Squeeze’s later albums, Spot the Difference in 2010, contained new versions of old Squeeze songs. In October of 2015, Squeeze released its first album containing exclusively new songs since before the turn of the millennium, Cradle to the Grave, followed shortly after that by another, The Knowledge. Since then, Squeeze has been touring extensively through North America, Ireland, the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

‘Ask anyone for a list of bands that had a major influence on the rock scene throughout history, and The Psychedelic Furs is almost certain to be on that list. This English rock band has a post-punk new wave sound infused with a clear David Bowie influence on the vocals that took the world by storm in the ’80s and early ’90s. Seeing The Psychedelic Furs live is a welcome treat since the band wasn’t touring for many years after choosing to pursue different things, such as the Butler brothers forming another band called Love Spit Love. The fans screamed for a return to the stage, and the group obliged by reforming and going back on tours throughout the world, which has continued for more than 15 years since the reunion in 2001. The inspired poetry of the lyrics and catchy new wave sound ensure that the infectious beats will live on in popularity for many decades to come as future generations discover this musical experience.’
