The Killers are an American rock band formed in Las Vegas in 2001 by Brandon Flowers (lead vocals, keyboards, bass) and Dave Keuning (lead guitar, backing vocals). The band has released five consecutive chart-topping studio albums: Hot Fuss (2004), Sam’s Town (2006), Day & Age (2008), Battle Born (2012) and Wonderful Wonderful (2017).
In 2001, Brandon Flowers was fired by his first band, a Las Vegas synth-pop trio known as Blush Response after refusing to relocate to Los Angeles with the band. After attending an Oasis concert in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Hotel during The Tour of Brotherly Love, Flowers realized his true desire was not to be in synth pop band but rather to be in a rock band. Flowers began searching for other Las Vegas rock musicians. He eventually came across an ad posted in a Las Vegas newspaper by Dave Keuning, a 25-year-old guitarist who had moved to Vegas from Iowa a year earlier. The pair bonded over similar musical interests and began writing together in Keuning’s Las Vegas apartment. In November 2001, they started recording at Kill The Messenger Studio in Henderson, Nevada, along with Matt Norcross, a local drummer who they had recently recruited to join the band. It was at these initial recording sessions in Henderson that The Killers recorded “Mr. Brightside”, which was the first song Flowers and Keuning wrote together.
Front man Dan Reynolds family extends back 3 generations in Las Vegas. Reynolds was a Mormon missionary and formed Imagine Dragons while he was a student at Brigham Young University in 2008. Imagine Dragons drew a large local fan following in Provo, Utah. In 2009, they sought a larger potential audience and a greater chance of success, so they moved to Dan Reynolds’ hometown of Las Vegas to pursue their music dreams.
Imagine Dragons regularly played small casino lounge and small club events in Las Vegas and laid down their first full album Night Visions at Studio X inside a Palms casino.
In 2009, Pat Monahan the lead vocalist for the rock band Train got sick and was unable to perform at Train’s scheduled concert at Bite of Las Vegas Festival. Imagine Dragons filled in at the last minute and stunned a crowd of 26,000 with an unforgettable concert… this was Imagine Dragons first big break. Imagine Dragons was named Best Local Indie Band of 2010 by Las Vegas Weekly and Las Vegas’ Newest Must-See Act by Las Vegas City Life.
Lead vocalist Dan Reynolds is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dan Reynolds and his ex-wife Aja (whom remain good friends) worked together on the documentary Believer which documents how Dan Reynolds went from Mormon Missionary to LGBTQ advocate.
Imagine Dragons have a history of pop-up shows on the Las vegas Strip, here is a three-song acoustic set in front of the Bellagio Fountains in November 2014.

A network of sewage tunnels underneath the Las Vega strip houses thousands of Las Vegas’ homeless known as the “Mole People”. When it rains, these people are at risk of drowning or having their homes washed away.
This is the ultimate irony of Las Vegas as well-off casino visitors gambling large amounts of disposable income are totally unaware of the struggle of the homeless in the tunnel world running just underneath their feet.
