The band’s first album Hot Fuss, which is certified platinum in the United States, Australia and Canada, includes their most well-known song Mr. Brightside. During live performances, fans also go crazy for Somebody Told Me and Smile Like You Mean It. The Killers are strongly influenced by English artists, including Morrissey, likely because they were first signed by an independent label in London, so they played several venues in the United Kingdom before they picked up steam in the US. They have headlined several live concerts like Glastonbury and have sold out venues including Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Unapologetically the Man

When The Killers, made up of Brandon Flowers, Dave Keuning, Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci Jr., first burst onto the music scene, they were criticized for coming off as arrogant. The perceived arrogance is probably what earned them a spot in the glamour rock category. Flowers revealed in an interview that The Man, the lead single from Wonderful, Wonderful, released on September 22, 2017, actually speaks to that experience. A few of the band’s songs make reference to boys becoming men or manhood like When You Were Young, so masculinity is a common theme for the group. Do not be fooled by the cowboy persona Flowers may rock or the unapologetically pro-male lyrics of a few songs, though. The group has a soft side, too. Goodnight, Travel Well helped promote awareness for sex trafficking. Showing more of their philanthropic side, the band also headlined the 2017 Global Citizen Festival.
