Among his many talents, he is a singer, songwriter, producer, pianist and guitarist. He has also collaborated with some of the biggest musical acts in the world over his long and prodigious career, including Will Smith, Boyz II Men and Earth, Wind and Fire. Branching out into TV and radio, Brian McKnight briefly hosted his own late night talk show in 2009 and 2010. Brian McKnight was inspired to enter the music business at the age of 19 with the success of his older brother, Claude McKnight III, who was a member of the a cappella gospel group Take 6. After shopping his demo tape around, McKnight signed a long-term deal with Mercury Records. His self-titled debut album, Brian McKnight, came out in 1992 and sold more than a million copies in the United States. A year later, he teamed up with Vanessa Williams for a duet on the hit single Love Is, which was featured on the Beverly Hills 90210 soundtrack. The song peaked at No. 3 on the US chart. His second and third studio albums, I Remember You and Anytime, went gold and 2x platinum, respectively. McKnight then switched from Mercury to Motown records. This set the stage for the enormous success of his 1999 album Back at One, which sold more than 3 million copies in the US. The eponymous song, Back at One, reached No. 2 on the chart. After 2000, he continued to release songs at a steady pace, including What We Do Here, What I've Been Waiting For and I Want U. In recognition of his talents, Brian McKnight has been nominated for an astonishing 16 Grammy Awards, including once every year between 1999 and 2005. Though he has yet to win, McKnight has received nominations for Best R&B Album, Best R&B Song, Best Male R&B Performance and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. He has also received recognition from the MTV Music Awards, the NAACP Image Awards and the Soul Train Music Awards
